Her early successes in the arts of performing, and which is now known by the name of Maureen O'Hara, would certainly qualify her to being in the "child prodigy" category. However, for a child of Irish origin, and surrounded by gifted parents and family members, these were very natural traits. Maureen made her entrance into the safe haven of her parents on August 17 1920, located in Ranelagh (a suburb within Dublin), Ireland. Her mother, Marguerita Lulburn FitzSimons was a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based firm and also owned a stake of "The Shamrock Rovers," a renowned Irish soccer squad. Maureen FitzSimons is the second child from Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed this wonderful family. Maureen was an athlete at heart and was a fan of tough athletic games. The passion for sports was matched by an unnatural talent for performing. As evidenced by getting almost every Feis award for drama and theatrical performing her country offered. In her 14th year, she joined at the Abbey Theater to follow her goal of studying the classical theater and operatic singing.
